City Serve

On Saturday 24 October a group of us from Cardiff Heights Baptist Church helped paint a couple of rooms at the Cardiff Early Education and Care Centre. A group of 15 from our Church and around 10 parents and a few staff joined in to paint two of the centres rooms. It was awesome to see the groups work together to complete the tasks and brighten up the learning environment for the children.

A group of our young adults ventured to Canberra for the very first Beyond Festival. The purpose of the festival was to inform help and unite us on social justice.
We looked at topics on social justice in our communities as well as all around the world.
A great weekend for all listening to awesome talks, bands, poetry, comedians and staying up late!!!

We heard from a number of Aboriginal leaders and elders. Also from a number of professionals in the area of Refugees and missional agencies.
Saturday night there was a forum on Aboriginal status and connection, Refugees and Asylum seekers status and intake. Also discussions on sustainable and renewable energies. The panel was from 3 politicians representing the Liberal and National party the Labor Party and the Greens. The other side of the panel was represented by Aboriginal Elders and respected Indigenous leaders. With some professionals in the fields discussed.
